Released in 1995 by Microprose, this Chris Sawyer (Roller Coaster Tycoon) game see’s you in control of a transport company, seeking to push it’s rival’s out of business. You seek to make as much profit as possible by transporting passengers and goods via road, rail, see, and the air.

Not sure if anyone here is aware of this, but Open TTD has been out for a long time. You can find it here: http://www.openttd.org/en/

It is far superior to the original and there are an insane amount of mods and add-ons for it that fans of the game have been creating for over 10 years. You can also play it online and there are literally HUNDREDS of servers up and running at any given time. If your into Transport Tycoon, possibly one of the greatest simulation games ever IMO, check out Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe.
