Duke Nukem: Endangered Species Screenshots Released

After buying 3D Realms in March of this year, Interceptor Entertainment have been digging through the archives to see what they could find. To our surprise, they’ve found screenshots of the unreleased Duke Nukem: Endangered Species and released them to the public.

Originally planned for release in the second half of 2001, Duke Nukem: Endangered Species was a hunting game featuring none other than the Duke himself. Developed by Ukraine-based developer Action Forms Ltd. (the people behind Carnivores and Carnivores 2), the game was unfortunately confirmed to be cancelled in December of 2001, and Action Forms went on to create its own game Vivisector: Beast Inside.

The official synopsis for the game was that “in various regions of the world, a large rogue animal is on the warpath and threatening human life. Local law enforcement has been ineffective, so DUKE is called in to exterminate the animal. This rogue beast now finds itself on the endangered species list because, well, DUKE is the top of the food chain.”

Whether the game would have been good or not is up for debate, but its nice to see some of screenshots made available. Who knows, maybe Interceptor will find a working copy of the game and see fit to release it to the public.
